Funeral Celebrant

Losing someone that you love is one of the most painful and challenging moments to walk through, but as an experienced Funeral Officiant, I appreciate having the chance to transform your struggle into an opportunity to celebrate a life well-lived.

Whether you are interested in planning a memorial at your local funeral home, or want a short graveside service, or even if you want to brainstorm celebration of life ideas with me, I can help you create a customized funeral service that honors the memory of your loved one.

When I am planning a funeral service, graveside committal, memorial or celebration of life, I work closely with you and your family throughout the entire process. My planning process includes:

  • Conducting interviews with family members and friends who can share anecdotes and memories about their loved one's life.

  • Drafting a ceremony that includes readings, poems, music, rituals, traditions and stories, often incorporating the wishes of the deceased as well as the preferences of the grieving family. That draft will be shared with you prior to the service.

As a Funeral Celebrant, I believe my role is to complement your existing funeral arrangements. I will officiate non-religious, semi-religious, spiritual or secular funeral services for those who have planned a traditional burial or for those who have opted for a cremation and will have ashes on display.

My funeral services package is $400, and it includes the planning process as well as the funeral service itself. I know that this is a difficult moment for you and your family, and I want to ease the burden for you by minimizing the logistics that you need to consider. Together, we can plan a ceremony that allows you to recognize the accomplishments and honor the memory of your deceased loved one.
When you plan a thoughtful and powerful memorial service, you will find that it is easier to endure the period of grief and mourning that you are currently walking through. Celebrating a life well-lived will allow you to come to terms with the magnitude of your loss.

For those having a short committal service at The Great Lakes National Cemetery, in Holly Michigan, the fee is $200.
Because I am the wife and daughter of a veteran, those who have served our country hold a special place in my heart. My portion of the service is shorter than an average funeral, yet still allows the family to be surrounded by community, share in their grief, and remember their loved one.

“I have to tell you the service was the most beautiful and heartfelt I have ever heard at any funeral (and I’m a funeral goer). You are absolutely amazing and I cannot express how grateful I am for your attention to detail and delivery. We received so much positive feedback from family and friends and I wanted you to know that. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mom has already said she wants you to speak at hers which is sad in one breath but says how much she appreciated you. Thank you so very very much.” - Sue
